Cyclists are amongst the most vulnerable of all road users and yet, the cycling culture in Nova Scotia is gaining in popularity as an environmentally friendly and healthy activity whose benefits contribute to a significant decrease in overall health care costs.
The purpose of the Position Paper is to raise the negative impacts the installation of rumbles strips have on the safety of cyclists riding on Nova Scotia highways.
The document concludes with a list of recommendations designed to mitigate the level of risk experienced by cyclists while enhancing the safety of all road users.
