Sydney Harbour Connector Project
Sydney Harbour Connector Project is a proposed multi-use path connecting the downtown Sydney waterfront to Sydney River and Coxheath. The path would run parallel to Kings Rd either beside the existing rail line or if the rail were removed it would run directly on top of the current rail bed. This multi-use path has been identified as a signature project in CBRM in Motion Active Transportation Plan 2022.
In 2024, A CBU study identified that 86% of survey respondents are in favour of converting the inactive rail into a multi-use path.
Washbrook Greenway Coalition
The Washbrook Greenway Coalition is a group of local stakeholders from various backgrounds who envision the Washbrook as a community hub which can link the Southend of Sydney to the Downtown.
The Washbrook Greenway Trail will extend 2.6 kilometres from Wentworth Park in the center of Sydney to the Baille Ard Nature Trail System in the south end of the city.
Federal Funding for this trail was announced May 13 2024.
